Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children
NHS Trust, Great Ormond Street, London WC1N 3JH. Tel: 020 7829 8679 (Direct line)

The Traumatic Stress Clinic specialises in working with children, young
people up to the age of 18 and their families who are survivors of traumatic
events. This can include things like road traffic accidents, being attacked or
bullied, violence or disasters.
Bad and sad things like this are common and can happen to anyone, and many
people recover quite quickly without specialist help. When things are taking longer
than normal to recover and stopping life getting back to normal, our clinic may be
able to help. We receive referrals from all over the UK and your family doctor (GP)
or local Child & Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) team will be able to refer you.
Dr Dora Black and her team first set up the Traumatic Stress Clinic for children
and families in 1993. In 2005, the clinic moved to Great Ormond Street Hospital
(GOSH) and is part of Attachment and Trauma team in the Department of Child and
Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The team currently consists of a
consultant psychiatrist, family therapist and clinical psychologist.
